"Massacre Interview

Massacre Interview
Florida death metal legends Massacre hadn't released a new album since 1996. They reunited again a few years ago, adding a couple of new members along with veterans Terry Butler (bass) and Rick Rozz (guitar). That lineup has released Back From Beyond. I caught up with Butler, who tells us how this incarnation of the band came to be, the recording of the new album, the latest on his other bands Obituary and Denial Fiend, his experience playing in Death back in the day, being at the center of the beginning of the Florida death metal scene and other topics.

Best Death Metal Album Covers
Perhaps nowhere is a striking cover image more important than in death metal. Countless metal musicians say that what drew them to death metal - or what initially repelled them but piqued their curiosity - was the cover art for bands like Cannibal Corpse and Deicide. Death metal bands are still trying to one-up each other with explicit and grisly images from slaughterhouses or crime scenes. Check out Justin M. Norton's gallery of the goriest and most memorable death metal album covers. Warning, this one is not for the faint of heart!

Randy: mourning the loss of his friend
Randy Blythe has posted a moving tribute to GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (AKA Oderus Urungus) following reports of the musician’s death earlier this morning.
Randy, a longtime friend of Dave and a fellow Virginia native, posted the message via hisInstagram page, and is quick to highlight that the GWAR man was one of heavy metal’s most unique characters – a sentiment certainly shared by everyone that knew him.
